Retrofete Gabrielle Dress in Peach (sold out; available in white), Indochino tuxedo (same as ceremony) with J.Crew Ludlow Slim-fit dinner jacket in Italian wool

Totally skipping over my wedding dress hunt (it’s very, very short) and sharing my second look (and Michael’s, too!) When I first thought about my wedding look, I was certain that I would not purchase a second dress. I thought if I loved my wedding dress as much as I hoped, I wouldn’t want to change out of it. Well, once I purchased my wedding dress, I quickly realized that it wasn’t suitable for dancing. Even bustled, my dress was form fitting and it is not the kind of dress that you can really get down in. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love to dance and will be on the dance floor until the end of a party.

Thinking about my second dress, I knew I wanted something totally different. I was pretty sure I wanted something short but I wasn’t dead set on a style. I had been a longtime fan of the Retrofete Gabrielle robe dress but I never thought of it for a reception dress. Then one day, I stumbled on this peach one. Immediately, I purchased it! I thought it was the perfect party dress and not “bridal.” It was short, sequined and peach! I thought the color would compliment my skin and would be a fun surprise. It honestly was the perfect dress and so comfortable. Perfect for dancing!

I have always loved when men change into a crisp white dinner jacket so I told Michael the idea early on in our planning. He was down but finding a white dinner jacket was harder than I thought. Initially I thought we could just purchase a second tux with a white jacket for his second look. But, all the options were too shiny and cheap looking in my opinion. One day I was on J.Crew’s website and I spotted their Ludlow dinner jacket and knew it was perfect for Michael! J.Crew has always fit him nicely so I knew it would need little tailoring and the fabric was nice enough that it went well with the rest of the pieces from his ceremony tuxedo. He changed into his dinner jacket right before we got introduced for dinner. I love how his look came together!

I’m sharing a few of my favorite reception looks for you future brides. And remember, when it comes to your wedding style, anything goes! Where what you want. You don’t have to wear all-white-everything!
