So I have a confession. I'm addicted to staycations! I live for room service and I love getting that vacation feeling without having to travel too far (and get a sitter for our pups). This past weekend, we stayed at the new Unscripted Hotel in Durham. I've been wanting to stay at the Unscripted since it opened last year. This location used to be the Jack Tar Hotel that operated in the 60s. The best thing about this hotel is that you can still see the character from the 60s but everything has been modernized. The night we arrived, we hung out a bit in the lobby for a little.

After checking in and dropping our bags off, we walked over to Jack Tar & the Colonel's Daughter. I mentioned this restaurant in my list of best places for brunch as we've visited quite a bit since it opened. If you are staying at the Unscripted, you can visit Jack Tar for a meal and Pour Taproom for a beer. Soon they'll be adding Neomonde which is a favorite of mine. Unscripted's central location in Durham allows you to visit any host of great restaurants but you really don't need to because they have some great ones just downstairs. I'm a sucker for convenience. I personally love Jack Tar's large selection which makes feeding a big group rather easy. I've been making a point to try a new entree each visit but dessert is always the same, crullers with strawberry jam.

Is anyone else crazy when it comes to hotel robes? I'm always surprised by how thin and freaking uncomfortable they are! Seriously the robes are the Unscripted were so plush. I might have stayed in mine the entire morning until I forced myself to go down to Allday for breakfast.

We decided to head down and have breakfast at Allday before walking around downtown Durham. We ordered french toast (vegan friendly) and an omelet and they were so good! I definitely recommend coming to Allday with your computer and grabbing a light meal and coffee. It is the perfect workspace. I am always on the lookout for cool places to work since I work from home.  Before we walked around downtown, I wanted to make a trip to see the patio. It was closed for the season but will be open soon when it starts getting warmer. We can't wait to take a trip back to Unscripted and grab lunch during the week by the pool.
